Goals

"I am excited to be a part of the Town of Iowa. I look forward to the amazing opportunities that lay ahead.  I will continue to represent all the residents while continuing to put the entire town at the forefront of any decision that I have to make.  It's not about me or about now, it's about the Town of Iowa and its future".

INFRASTRUCTURE

Knowledge of our infrastructure is paramount to develop a plan for the future; not having as-built drawings for all water, sewer, and drainage projects has been a challenge.  We anticipate that our GIS program will be completed by October of 2024.  This program will allow us to view our infrastructure on a web-based platform that can be accessed on any site in real time.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Economic development is dependent on the Town's ability to provide the proper infrastructure.  Having the ability to provide water, sewer, and drainage is the check boxes that businesses need to locate in our area.  New retail businesses provide both sales tax revenue as well as jobs. Manufacturers or service companies provide jobs. Having a good mix of these businesses will increase confidence in the Town of Iowa's ability to attract more.  This cycle, once started, will increase the revenues (especially sales tax), allowing the Town to become more self-sufficient.  This in turn could lessen the tax burden on the residents normally associated with little to no growth.

BUSINESS

Marketing the town of Iowa should be a subset of Economic Development.  This should be done not just on a local, regional, and state level but also on a nationwide scale.  In conjunction with marketing, consideration should be given depending on the business/jobs created to consider a limited well structured tax credit.

HEALTHCARE

The reality of a rural hospital in our area is a possibility.  This would be beneficial to our town as having a hospital could provide for faster response times for those in emergency situations.

RECREATION

Last but not least on our list of needs is something that I am very excited about.  Our park has been underutilized, and we have a great opportunity to not just do our park justice for the residents but our neighbors in the surrounding areas.  Having a Parks and Recreation League will give us the ability to hire a Director that can bring many different leagues to our park.  Leagues such as pee wee football, buddy ball tournaments, adult softball, pickleball, PONY League baseball and softball, and more.   The goal of having a Director is to help establish sponsors and private individuals to participate in making our park self-sufficient, therefore reducing the tax burden on the residents of the Town of Iowa.  This will be a key component for bringing in people and in turn revenues leading to more business and economic development.
